SAILS

Fully-battened mainsail with single line reefing for two reefs, furling Genoa, Parasailor Downwind cruising chute.

ENGINES

Two 18 HP Volvo Penta three cylinder diesel engines with sail-drives, each in its own soundproofed watertight engine compartment, with engine blowers and separate sea water filters. Each engine has its own independent 100l diesel tank.

ELECTRICAL

4.5kw Panda diesel Generator in the Port engine bay, with its own 50l diesel tank. The generator can simultaneously supply all the house 220v sockets, the electric oven, the two 50A Sterling smart chargers, and the 65l water heater. It will also run our Seafresh 104l/h water maker.

We have 880Ah of deep cycle batteries for house use, and each engine and the generator has its own starting battery.

These are all kept topped up when we are not moving by an 80A BP Solar panel mounted on the rear davits, and when we are running on engines, the batteries are charged by two 65A alternators powered off each engine.

All of this is monitored by a Sterling Power Management system.

For 220v power when we are on batteries, we have a number of 350W Sterling Inverters for running the TV, DVD and Computers.

WATER

2 water tanks totalling 500l, a 104 litre per hour Seafresh 220v water maker and a hot water system with 65l hot water heater

ELECTRONICS

Furuno 16 mile radar, B&G Plotter, B&G wind, depth, and speed instruments, B&G autopilot with hydraulic steering all connected to a PC running Nobeltec VNS Pro.

Also feeding the PC is a Navicom DSC VHF Radio with integral AIS.

The helm display is handled by a Panasonic Toughbook wireless waterproof display with touch screen.

We have a second VHF radio installed as a backup, along with three waterproof ICOM handheld units, and two backup laptops.

For weather information, we have a Radiotelex Weatherman, a NASA HF Receiver which also gives us Weatherfax and Navtext, and an Iridium Satellite phone which allows the PC to send/receive email.

SAFETY

In the event something really bad happens, we have two Rapid fix Personal EPIRBS with integral GPS receivers that live in our Seago 275N offshore auto inflating lifejackets, along with the waterproof ICOM VHF transceivers. We also have a sealed 8 man Seago life raft, and 6 Seago auto inflating 175N lifejackets for guests.

While the lifejackets have built-in harnesses, we also have a number of separate harnesses which we use when the weather in not rough, but we are outside at night or on deck alone whilst on passage.

The construction of the Lagoon 380 itself is also a large safety feature. Each of the two rear engine compartments and the two bow storage compartments have watertight bulkheads.

COMFORT

For recreation we have two HD TV’s, two XBOX 360’s, a separate DVD player with surround sound, and a quad speaker sound system. Lots of DVD’s and Windows media centre with all our music, TV shows etc. All this is connected by our own onboard wireless network.

When we want to cook we have a large electric oven and grill powered by the generator, along with two gas rings supplied by our on-board bottles and a microwave.

For refrigeration, a large 250l fridge is supplemented by a separate 25l freezer.

And for heating and cooling, we have a number of 12v fans, along with 400w heaters in all the cabins and a portable air conditioner.
